Temporary concession on waiver, visa, and appeal applications

For people who have applied for a waiver and are still waiting for a decision:

    • If you are a visa holder, you will be granted a temporary extension of your current visa until June 30, 2024. This will allow you to stay in South Africa while the Department processes your waiver application.
    • If you are not a visa holder, you will be allowed to leave South Africa and re-enter at a port of entry up to and including June 30, 2024, without being declared undesirable. However, you will need to apply for a port of entry visa if you want to re-entry into South Africa.

You must provide a VFS receipt to prove you have a pending application.

For people who have applied for a long-term visa and are still waiting for a decision:

    • If you are a visa holder, you will be granted a temporary extension of your current visa until June 30, 2024. This will allow you to stay in South Africa while the Department processes your visa application.
    • You are not allowed to start any new activities other than what the visa conditions provide for you while you are waiting for your visa decision. For example, you cannot start a new job or enroll in a new school.

You must provide a VFS receipt to prove you have a pending application.

Short-term visa holders (90 days or less) who applied on or before 30 November whose applications for renewal are pending must depart from South Africa by 29 February 2024 to avoid being declared undesirable persons.
