Bringing you immigration news as it happens

If you are a South African and you are looking at travel in the next 12 months here’s what you should know.

Currently, international travel is open to repatriation flights (citizens returning home), permanent residence holders and long-term visa holders. Exceptions can be made for split families.

There was an article in the Sunday Times which outlined plans the Minister has put in place to boost the SA tourism industry and encourage international travellers back to our shores.

This has not been confirmed but it may be that if you have had your vaccine you may enter with normal protocols – just a face mask. The rest of us face a covid test within 72 hours of travel and a 14-day mandatory quarantine on arrival.

Getting in is one problem, getting there is another.

Passenger flights to and from SA look to open up as follows:

Emirates                             8th April

KLM                                    15th April

BA                                        16th April

Virgin and Cathay            June onwards

Qantas                                End of October

Stay safe and travel wisely.
